Subtitle: Shecodes' neighbors harp on Obama's pinless lapel
Seriously everyone... if you listen to the Democratic pundits over here in Philly, you would think that America isn't engaged in two wars, you'd think that we don't have thousands of homeless people due to Hurricane Katrina, you'd think that the mortgage crises must have suddenly vaporized, or maybe that Philadelphia doesn't need more funds to fight the soaring murder rate.
Of all of the thousands of questions to sift through to ask, why would moderators select to highlight some woman's query about Barack Obama's naked lapel, which is missing an "American flag" pin?
And did I REALLY just sit through 20 minutes of analysis of his "pinless lapel" answer this morning?? I want my 20 minutes back!!
How in the world can "Mr Aristocrat" McCain and Hillary "Blueblood" Clinton, who are both so obscenely wealthy that each of their personal fortunes eclipses the entire education budget of the Cheltenham school district -- avoid the inevitable lighting strike of media exposure of their hypocrisy on this matter? How in the world can these oligarchs call Barack Obama -- who juuuust finished paying his student loans off, an 'ELITIST', of all things?
That's it. I am not watching any more political television. I am convinced that political TV is lowering my I.Q., because this time last year I would have shut the television off the moment that nonsensical question was brought on live, national television.
And I don't wear an American flag pin on my lapel every day, either. So I guess I'm an elitist.
At any rate, it looks like Michelle Obama has emerged from hiding. I was about to submit Mrs. Obama for consideration to Black and Missing... but not forgotten blog, or at least get her face placed on a "Have you seen this woman?" milk carton. I like this woman. Frankly, I wish that she was the Obama running for President. Wait till I post her appearance on "The Colbert Report" this Sunday... it's hysterical!
But on to serious matters: Barack Obama is trailing Hillary Clinton by 5 points (+-2) in Pennsylvania. Pennsylvania is nestled between two "Hillary states:" New Jersey and Ohio. Mrs Clinton trounced Mr Obama in both states.
The new mayor of Philadelphia, Michael Nutter, is a wildly popular African American, and he is backing Hillary Clinton. They are running ads with him urging people to vote for her, 24/7. He is a very convincing guy... and he is saying that he supports Hillary because "she 'gets it' ". (Okay, that doesn't translate very well in written form, but trust, his delivery is very convincing)
We shall see if Hillary is still in the race this coming Tuesday. The Queen's Council, our new podast, will announce and discuss the results, so stay tuned!

Well, knock me over with a feather... I guess I am an elitist!

I stopped watching 24 news since Obama blew Hillary out on Super Tuesday. Hillary just looks like a desperate fool at this point in the election. How does someone who make 100 million a year call Obama who probably barely clocks 1-2 mil and elitist. Hillary can't relate to the common person or the common woman-that's why she is losing in the first place!
They need to talk about the issues!
I didn't watch the debate because I am done with this whole Hillary v Obama thing, they never talk about the issues! That is the reason why I am not an Obama stan like everyone else. The cost of education, housing and gas is high where I live, I don't need some feel good politician, I need answers!
Why don't Obama go dig up one of Bill's girlfriends and end this charade. I know Bill must have some scandals since he moved to NY.
The only person I can watch is Keith Olbermann. I actually enjoy his show. When it comes to political news and opinion, I rely on the blogs, Crooks and Liars, and Huff Post.
I'm very happy that I missed last night's debate since I heard that it was such a snoozefest that strayed away from the issues. I really wish that it would get back to the issues though. Although for now I enjoy seeing Hillary sweat, I'm tired of the "NAFTA-gate," "Bitter-gate," "Sniper-gate" and the next "-gate" story. And it just angers me. It's like Obama has to stand up for himself everytime Billary spins his words. I'm really tired of this campaign. With every debate, national concerns aren't the priority.
Like who gives a damn over a lapel pin? Americans can't be this stupid as to measure one's patriotism by a flag. Why should a PA resident vote for a pro-gun control politician who was taught how to shoot at 7?
And like Rev. Lisa said, who is she to talk about detachment from the working class? Just like this Huff Post article said, the Bitter-gate rhetoric is laden in "How dare this uppity n#gger" sentiments.
What was that ridiculousness last night? It certainly wasn't a debate! More than 60 minutes of trivial, Fox Newsesque questions (lapel pins? capital gains tax?), and precious little time on the economy, war, healthcare, the environment, etc. Why was George Stephanopolous, a Clinton administration senior political advisor, even there?
If we are to take back our country, we're going to need to take back the Fourth Estate. The MSM is failing us!
On another note, I heart Michelle Obama.
I saw an excerpt of Michelle Obams's appearance on Colbert; she was extremely entertaining, but classy, confident, and articulate at the same time.
I missed the debate (I didn't even think to check ABC to see if it was on that channel), but from what I've been reading on various blogs including yours, I didn't miss much in terms of answers to the REAL issues affecting this country.
TELL me about it, Tami. What a monumental waste of time. I'm not watching any more debates. It's insulting to my intelligence.
Yes, we do need to start our independent online news networks... like NOW!
@randi:
Girl, you didn't miss anything. Next time I'll just scan CNN, and if anything interesting comes up, I'll watch the rerun online.
I am praying that Hillary loses Pennsylvania, not because I like Barack, but because I cringe at the idea of another 4 years of an economy in a free fall. I can not see Hillary Clinton winning against McCain.
The Democrats are TRYING to lose this upcoming election though. They must be.
It's a smoke screen to try to keep our minds off of the truly important issues. I guess if his shoes didn't have an appropriate shine, there would be "media" coverage of that, too.
Thank God intelligent black men and women can see right through the smoke....
