We did it. Using the strategic concepts that we learned in the Queenly Art of Political Warfare, we achieved all of the goals of our first campaign to implement the Black Women's Agenda.
Our Royal Pawns, our Bishops, our Rooks, and our Knights worked in concert to achieve our intentions with integrity and strength.
Our goals were simple and clear from the start:
Goal: We wanted both Al Sharpton and the NAACP to reverse their irresponsible statements that advocated bail for the alleged rapists/torturers of the Dunbar Village Atrocity.
Victory: Both Al Sharpton and the NAACP have expressed some form of regret for their recent involvement in the Dunbar Village case. They have also both made commitments to assist the true victims of this crime.
While both agencies made a bizarre attempt to impeach our assessment of the facts, we were publicly vindicated by the mainstream media due to the overwhelming evidence of videotape, reports from eyewitness mainstream media representatives, the testimony of civilian eyewitnesses, and because of pictures of the documentation that was passed out at the gathering.
Our integrity remains intact.
Goal: We wanted both the NAACP and the National Action Network to cease downgrading the gang rape/torture/atrocity of the Dunbar Village by making faulty and inappropriate comparisons to an unrelated gang rape.
Victory: The NAACP apologized for their attempt to compare these two cases. Al Sharpton also admitted on his radio show that mistakes were made on his part. Although Mr. Sharpton has not specifically apologized for this comparison, he made very strong statements criticizing the civil rights movement for failing to come to the aid of black women who are the victims of black on black crime.
Goal: We wanted to see some movement toward the apprehension and prosecution of the remaining six attackers in the Dunbar Village Atrocity.
This weekend, the police requested warrants for two more suspects in the Dunbar Village case. We can not claim responsibility for the timing of these warrants, but we should be very glad to see this kind of progress. It does take many individuals and agencies working together to raise awareness and resources for dealing with crime in any neighborhood.
Goal: We declared that we hoped to see an upsurge of genuine victim advocacy for the true victims in the Dunbar Village Atrocity.
Victory: Al Sharpton, made a public commitment to uphold his previous promise to advocate for the residents of the Dunbar Village housing complex. (Previously, Al Sharpton had canceled three meetings to assist the residents of Dunbar Village after months of persistent appeals for help from a resident in the complex.)
This past weekend, the NAACP met with the prosecutors of the case, in which they voiced “some very, very strong interest and concern in supporting the victims of the Dunbar case, they were completely focused on the victims."
This campaign was a clear and undisputable victory for the Battalion of the Queenly Order. I officially raise our new, official Royal Banner (see above on this post) in triumph!
We didn’t even have to bring out our big weapons… I had 16 NAACP award recipients (and some are prominent people) who were prepared to publicly return their awards in protest, and had appointments to talk to five more. We have postponed that next initiative... and we will watch and see the next movements of the NAACP on this matter, and hope to drop that new strike altogether.
While we have accomplished our initiative, the full Dunbar Village story is not yet complete. We should continue to do our best to assist the victims, promote the call for justice, and to address the conditions that promote this kind of barbarism in our society.
I hope that you, dear readers, now understand that the Queenly Art of Political Warfare isn’t just some cute and intellectual exercise for bourgoise black women who have nothing better to talk about on their free time. It is the vehicle for solid ground to be regained on behalf of American black women.
Everything that was mentioned in this post happened in two weeks -- which is an astounding rate of speed for this 180 degree turnaround. I almost have whiplash from it. This campaign is evidence that black women have a tremendously deep well of untapped power, and that we actually do have the ability to make this country a more hospitable place for ourselves.
Additionally, a new lesson was learned: we are not as alone as we previously believed. We not only had the genuine support of several white female bloggers, we also had bold, courageous help from men, both black and white, who believed in our cause.
For our daughters, grand daughters, and all of progeny’s sake, I will document everything that happened in this initiative, so that they will learn about the rebirth of the Black Queens, and prepare themselves to pick up the torch when we become too tired to fight.
Queens: this concludes our first practical application in the Queenly Art of Political Warfare. Any questions?

This is fantastic! I am glad to see the victory, though I am disappointed in the minimal male blogger participation, especially Black male bloggers. I applaud Blackseagoat and Aaron as they are real men that kept me informed as I ventured onto their sites and of course the many women's sites I visited. Let's keep the pressure on until all of these being are caught, locked up and given their day in court.
Great job, I knew your hard work would pay off...and great work to all the other bloggers who helped!
Is that banner our new logo? It's perfect!! Please let us know if you're going to sell it on a T-shirt. I'll buy one for myself and my daughter.
Great work, Shecodes! The offer still stands for you to give a talk on my campus next year on blogging and the Queenly Art of Political Warfare.
Please email me privately: hobsjayceeh@yahoo.com
Villager says we can back of the NAACP now, and you seem to be declaring the campaign to be over with as well.
Do you really feel that there has been sufficient retraction and contriteness, because I absolutely don't, as I detailed in my post yesterday:
You've got one person in the entire NAACP apparatus even admitting they did anything wrong, Fl State Pres Mrs. Nweze; but doing so while at the same time claiming that there was "never an intent to ignore the victims"; which is clearly not true.
Further, I've heard no retraction from Maude Ford Lee (did I miss it?) and the National NAACP as represented by their communications director Robert McIntyre has taken the position of "so be it" in regards to the "alleged" rapists getting bail. If an executive representative says "so be it" and your origination gives no other position on the matter, then that is your organizations official standing position.
We’ve got moment rolling, why let them off the hook now since this isn’t even an isolated incident; but simply emblematic of the NAACPs disregard and wrong mindedness across the board.
yobachi,
As a black man I may be overstepping my bounds in answering your post. But, from my vantage point, the complete reform or dismantling of the NAACP was not the goal of the campaign. Rather the campaign was solely focused on a specific case where black women's safety and well-being was being subordinated to those of black male perpetrators of violence. To do as you suggest would be to place the NAACP and its future as a viable institution going forward at the center of concern. And I don't think that's what these women and their allies are about.
"Queens: this concludes our first practical application in the Queenly Art of Political Warfare. Any questions?"
Yes. When do we eat? :0)
Fantastic indeed, and I love the logo!
Even in victory, there must be vigilant though.
We must remain vigilant.
PVW
Oops! I meant vigilance in the 2nd sentence!
Yobachi,
I will definitely read your posts today. I do share your concern and outrage over NAACP, and am personally willing to continue to hold them accountable along with you and others.
However teddy is correct in that we declared very finite, measurable goals from the beginning, and promised each other that we would stop this particular initiative once those goals were met. It does not let them off of the hook from activities that are outside the scope of this particular initiative at all.
I am so heartened that men like you are willing to stand up and be counted. Trust, the NAACP has not heard the last of us.
Hi Anxious,
I will definitely contact you. Look for a message from me within 24 hrs.
@Miriam,
I've been feasting all day. I had better slow down before I break the 'health' covenant on the BWA! lol
@PWV,
You are correct... we are keeping an eye on this situation, as well as doing everything that we can to be a help and not a hinderance to the situation.
I am happy to have been a part of this campaign. I also expressed on another blog, I think it was villager's, that the NAACP was not contrite enough and that an apology on the podcast was not sufficient or comparable to calling a press conference and denouncing the statements that were made in defense of the rapists. I was told to enjoy the victory. I understand the goals of the campaign and so I understand that we accomplished our mission, but I am still mad at them and would love to be a part of any seperate effort to divest from their efforts.
On another note, good job Shecodes! That new logo is great. You should have t-shirts made.
I just love this power of unity from my black sisterhood. This is where we really need to expend our frustration and backed up energy, towards our overall betterment.
As per PVW, we will always continue to be vigilant, let them know that!
Blessings...
Congagulations Sister Shecodes! This is indeed a great victory and you and the other warriors should allow yourselves a moment to bask in its glow. I know that this is just the first initiative in the battle but let us all take a moment and exhale.
ensayn1 there are many Black male bloggers who are supporting the cause, we just have to coax them out and fully join us in battle. I myself have been onboard this struggle since I first read about the horrific incident at Dunbar Village and as I told Sister Shecodes I am a Black Knight in the struggle.
Sister Shecodes, I grow more impressed with you,your commitment and sharp strategic mind. You made me dust off my chess pieces and work on my game. We must never stop strategizing. I think you are wise to keep your people who were ready to return their awards for the next initiative. As long as there are arrogant people Like McIntyrie in the NAACP I have a feeling that you will need them.
Finally, I loved your appearance on the podcast. Everything you said was spot on. If you need anything please contact me because you know that I am already on board with you to the end.
I am so proud to be a part of something so great!
Shecodes, remind me NEVER to get on your bad or even indifferet side. Could you imagine what would have happened if people had returned their image awards in protest?
Nevertheless, I am left to wonder why they accepted them at all, particularly AFTER R. Kelly received one for being a pedophile.
This is a good victory though. I think Tanisha put it best when she said that there wold be hell to pay if these organizations keep acting indifferent towards black women.

Ensayn,
There have been a number of black male bloggers who jumped into the fray as soon as they found out. Mr. Shadow, EddieBASG, AAPundit, are a few that come to mind immediately. Like them, I stumbled upon the DV Rape and was so incensed that it took so long for me to hear about it.

Do I still get to wear the role of the Rook? You know there's something very powerful about drawing a line in the sand and DARING an enemy to cross it just to have the pleasure of completely destroying them. *LOL*
Congratulations to us! Thank you SheCodes and others for all of your hard work. I'm really proud.
-BlackL7
This is a great beginning! Congratulations to everyone who stepped forward and joined the battle. It's been an honor to participate in this initiative.
@PVW: Yes, eternal vigilance!
Great logo!
Peace.
It is really admirable to see men and women from different backgrounds unify to accomplish these specific tasks. This is really special.
I am pleased at the positive results so far! Well done SheCodes! Well done and congrats to you and everyone who took this problem by the horns. La Lucha Continua!
@Ravenelvenlady
!Es verdad! Si! LA VICTORIA ES LA NUESTRA!
