Black Americans: We intimately know the effects of destroying an African people through ethnic hatred and greed. How can we claim to still be angry about this, yet do nothing to stop it from happening again?
World Citizens of Every Nation: Where is your conscience? How can you claim to believe in God, yet do none of His work?
STOP THE GENOCIDE IN DARFUR
Most of us academically know the facts:
More than 400, 000 innocent people have been butchered to death, for no other reason than they were Black non Arabs.
Rape and mutilation, extreme violence against women and girls, have become a widespread war tactic.
SLAVERY: Reports have surfaced of Black Africans being forced into slavery .
The Janjaweed have burned down entire villages, forcing millions to become homeless.
More than one million people have been forced to flee their homes, and today subsist as refugees.

SLAVERY: Reports have surfaced of Black Africans being forced into slavery .
The Janjaweed have burned down entire villages, forcing millions to become homeless.
More than one million people have been forced to flee their homes, and today subsist as refugees.
Many people are dying from starvation, exposure, drought, and treatable diseases.
We read these things, but can we really FEEL them? Let the children of Darfur tell you the story:

How can we allow children to see their homes burned down, and their mothers raped and sold into slavery?Does the world not have a heart?
Shouldn't this situation spark some kind of collective memory of the Black children of the Great Kidnapping in America?
(Why aren't we flooded with Black American coverage of this story?)

What kind of people are we to turn our backs, and conduct 'business as usual' while these helpless children to see their fathers gunned down, tortured and burned alive for reasons that nobody can explain?

Years from now, when your children and grandchildren read about this genocide in their history books, and ask you what you did about it -- what will you say?

How many more orphans have to be made, how much more innocent blood has to be spilled, before America and the world obeys their moral obligation to end this unspeakable suffering?
What you can do:
1. Adopt an orphan from the Sudan. Rescue a child from this nightmare.
2. Give as much money that you can, MONTHLY, to Amnesty International, or any reputable relief fund. Sacrifice something in order to do it - donate your morning Starbucks coffee money, cancel a magazine subscription, wash your car by hand -- just find the money to donate to relief efforts.
3. Call your Congressperson EVERY DAY about this. Demand immediate action. Put them on speed dial on your cell phone.
4. Educate yourself on the China connection to the genocide, as well as the involvement of other nations, including America.
5. Refuse to allow the Olympics to be played in your home. Explain to your husbands and to your children that there are more important things at stake than the enjoyment of sports.
6. Recruit your friends, family, coworkers in an awareness campaign.
There are many, many other things that you can do.
1. Write to the ambassadors of the US, the UK, Russia and France to the UN.
Urge them to help China insist that Khartoum stop its obstruction.
2. Email or call the Olympic Corporate Sponsors.
Send a letter to companies sponsoring the 2008 Olympics, hosted by China. (Dream for Darfur’s email system will let you do this with the touch of a button.)
3. Pledge to turn off the commercials of Olympic Sponsors during the Games.
Olympic corporate sponsors have been silent about China’s financing of the Darfur genocide, even as the sponsors are spending billions to enhance China’s image as Olympic host. If sponsors continue to ignore China’s complicity in the Darfur genocide, we will ignore their million-dollar ad campaigns.
4. Write to the UN Special Adviser on Sport for Development and Peace.
Mr. Adolf Ogi represents the UN Secretary-General in contacts with international sports bodies. Tell him you are concerned that the world will gather for the Olympics while the people of Darfur are being slaughtered.
5. Petition the International Olympic Committee.
Urge the IOC to work with the international community to ensure that China uses its leverage with the government of Sudan to help stop the genocide in Darfur, and avoids tarnishing the 2008 Games in Beijing.
More ideas: (thank you iman)
- Demand that your pension/mutual fund to divest from Sudan. And if you don't have a pension fund ask that your state divest their pension funds from sudan. Some states, like California, have already done so. Also if you have a fund that's not invested in Darfur, but invested is PetroChina, urge them to divest, because petro china is one of the largest funders of the conflict through the Sudanese governemnts oil revenue. I don't know all the companies invested in Petro China, but I know JP Morgan Chase is one for sure.
- Make sure people stop reffering to this as the "war in sudan" instead of the genocide in sudan. I believe the US is the only country to declare that this is genocide. As we all know, words matter.
- If your not doing anything today, and you live in the DC area, join the protest on the mall.
Whatever you do, do not just shake your head and continue 'business as usual'. We, by virtue of being human beings, have the obligation to stop this kind of horror. The more enriched the perpetrators become from this genocide, the more we, ourselves, become at risk.
PLEASE, FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, DO SOMETHING.

China and any other country that is in there stealing the wealth of the land aka oil, needs to take their themselves out. So this non sense can stop, I just find it so wrong that the Usa or Canada doesn't go and intervene but they were quick to put themselves in Afgan and Iraq. I will also share this info to my friends. Great post.
Good Morning Shecodes.
I was doing some research on this issue yesterday for a post I'm working on and I was so angr and sad that these sisters are being treated this way. From what I read, in order to keep the fragile "peace" in place, the whole world has turned a blind eye to the systematic rape of hundreds of thousands of women. I read about women whose reproductive and digestive systems were ripped apart by bullets. To make things worse, it is believed that over 60%of these militia men have HIV and other venereal diseases so the diseases are spreading like wild fire. To amke things worse, many countries, corporations are raping this area of its natural resources.
As for black media and blacks in America not feeling the need to organize and mobolize on behalf of these brother and sisters in the motherland. I think that there is a concerted effort on behalf of American blacks, especially amongst the younger generation, to separate ourselves from Africa and anything that has to do with the motherland. I know that back in the 1980's there was a movement among black college students to divest funds from corporations that did business with aparteid South Africa. From my understanding, it was very successful. I wonder if there could be a divestment movement on behalf of the people in Darfur? We need to make a list of the corporations that are profiting from this war. I think that if a campaign was started on a mass scale, it could make a difference. I'll be doing the research to find out all of these companies and nations and will post them on my blog. I'll also do research on how to start a divestment movemen.
Just my thoughts and plans.
tasha,
Please keep me informed on what you are doing. If you would like me to post any of your findings, just say the word.
That's a great list Shecodes. A few more things you can do:
I first learned about the horrors in Sudan, in 2000 when I was doing research on slavery in Sudan and Mauritania (while still exists btw) for internship i had. There were small congressional hearings and a number of civic and human rights groups outraged over the treatment of black africans in sudan, but there was no large scale moral outrage. This was before the conflict of course, but the seeds were clearly being planted.
Fast forward today where you have the mainstream media, high profile politicians and celebrities, coalitions and hoards of activist addressing the issue, I think its remarkable to see how many people have become so aware and committed to this issue. But we still have a long way to go.
As far as young black people not being interested, I think it all depends on where your looking. If you go to any of these darfur rally's in the past few years, you'll see a majority of the people are young and a lot of them are black. It would be nice however if the black media was more connected to this issue. However there's very few outlets in this country for international news period.
Thank you iman,
I will add your suggestions to this post.
And yes, I agree that there are black individuals (students and bloggers, especially) who are speaking out about this. But we need all hands on deck, and I can only hope that blog blasts like today's will help with that effort.
I can only hope that blog blasts like today's will help with that effort.
Oh, it definitly will. This is great that you and all these bloggers are posting about this important issue. Even if just one person reads this post and decides to do something, it will have made a difference. It's hard not to look at those pictures and not be moved. I know i was.
Shecodes I will post this on my blog also to spread the word
thank you ebony!
Hi Shecodes,
Awesome post!
Blessings to all who have joined this effort to stop genocide in Darfur!
Peace & Love

I've read reports that the US & Israel are playing both sides of the fence so to speak and using the Arab terrorist angle to prompt an occupation of the country to get to the oil and get rid of China. I watched the documentary on the Congo and read some of the stats that 10 times as many people have been murdered there but there isn't a huge lobbying effort to bring attention there with the same fervor of Sudan. I'm certainly not trying to say one bad is worse than the other but this isn't outside of the realm of possibility [Iran/Contra and crack epidemic in Black neighborhoods come to mind]. If anyone has a rebuttal please feel free to share it. I want to do all I can to help all the nations facing these atrocious acts AND I want to sources of the conflicts accurately identified.
I just sent this information to my friends and aquaintances.I will do my part.
I am also concerned about the practice of female genital mutilation on the African continent and abroad. Somali- born Waris Dirie, has a campaign against this inhuman tradition. Ms. Dirie is based in Austria.
Her website is-

Saludos.
Hi Ana,
Yes I am familiar with Waris' campaign, and was so relieved to hear that she was safe after her disappearance. She has been getting terrible death threats.
I think I'll add her to my blogroll.
hi all-
I stand in solidarity.
i really do believe that america calling china out on genocide is strategic. the u.s. as we all know is not opposed to genocide. america just must reap the greatest spoils, otherwise it is a problem. america and china are competitors in the race to secure dominance and control over the natural resources of Africa. starvation, disease, rape, femicide, mentacide (currently used here in the u.s. in the form of "education" and "entertainment") are simply tools the devils use to eliminate those that are in the way of whites' "manifest destiny" and psychopathic/sociopathic desire to dominate the world; despite whites being the world minority.
making the whole world a big plantation is the goal.
the demonstrations, rallies, meetings, etc. in search of meaningful change and assistance for our brothers and sisters have encouraged me greatly. the people gathered have represented God’s people in all of the glorious shades of beauty in which we were created.
i will continue to do what i can do and urge others to do the same.

Arlene, are you doing any rounding up of the blogswarm you started?
If so, although it's not quite finished, I'd like to submit this ASAP so it can provide fodder for discussion for those who have yet to blog on the Congo sexual violence subject subject.
THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU.
hi Faith-
you said:
"I've read reports that the US & Israel are playing both sides of the fence so to speak and using the Arab terrorist angle to prompt an occupation of the country to get to the oil and get rid of China."
i say:
your statement is hitting nail squarely on the head!
there must be no none whites running anything in this one world order white supremacy new deal.

Hi katie,
I can't claim credit for the April 13th movement, it was done by blogger Danielle Vyas from the blog Modern Musings.
But I agree that this is just the beginning. Ending the wickedness that is running rampant in both Darfur and the Congo are going to be running themes along with everything else I do.
Katie-
thank you for having the courage to speak the truth. thank you! thank you! thank you!
i agree wholeheartedly. it has sickened me to see people that must know that men on the ground carry out the orders of the wicked devils that call the shots, reap the greatest benefits, sustain the least risk---choose to ignore that and focus on the soldiers. thank you for joining me at the root. in order to eradicate anything completely it must be uprooted.
bandaids on cancer don't work. until we start calling it like it is and stop allowing ourselves to be distracted---for every victory there will be another setback. while we wait for this wickedness to "die out" as i have heard repeatedly lately, the devils use technology, science, chemical warfare, mind control, drugs, shock doctrine, etc. etc. to efficiently take more people out, and enslave the assimilators---here and abroad.
the american masses (all colors) have consistently allowed the government tail to wag the dog. when the people lead...the leaders must follow...or reveal themselves in no uncertain terms. the psychopath/sociopath is big on appearances. shrouding their true nature in darkness, charm, and claims of ignorance is how they operate. know yourself, know your enemy and boldly shine light. it is written that in the end we win!!!

Faith, activist do most of the Darfur lobbying. If you would like to lobby on be half of the Congolese please do; but this recent thrust of bringing up the Congo to distract from getting help to the people of Darfur helps nobody in either crisis.
US corporations are making tens of billions of dollars each year in the Asia Pacific, why are you complaining about Darfur. Why should Khartoum allow UN peacekeeping forces in when other governments continue their genocide as 'domestic' issues? Although Indonesia has more US corporations mining its colonies, why is it immune to genocide charges?
How civilized can America be when you profit from one genocide while saying another genocide is bad for being genocide?
Have you never read the Section on "Violence against Women and Rape"? 45 years of colonial rape just because Robert Lovett and McGeorge Bundy wanted to have the world's biggest gold and copper mine.
When will America say no? Americans have NO right to call my Papuan brothers 'primitives', had NO right to sell them, NO right to mine their lands just because they have healthy black complexion. Please SAY NO to the continued colonization and rape of West Papua.
Papua Merdeka!
Shecodes,
Thank you for making the statistics more human by telling the children's stories. The raw numbers are so overwhelming that people get dazed and can't internalize it sometimes. I will spread the word.
Andrew, did you really read this post, or did you skim it and assume that you knew what I wrote?
Do not assume that electing to write about one atrocity denies the existence of all other atrocities.
It makes no sense to pit one group of people who are desperate for assistance against another. If anything, we ought to join forces, because there is a common enemy.
If you read the first sentence of my post, I already challenged the notion that we can truly call ourselves civilized. America is a nation stolen by unspeakable brutality, built by unspeakable brutality, and maintained by unspeakable brutality, with a willful blindness to all of it.
I will also go on record to say that very few countries do not have blood on their hands as well.
If you want the assistance of black women to raise awareness about Papua, you are going about it all wrong.
Andrew,
Most of the corporate exploitation of Indonesia's resources is resulting in less drastically severe displacement and life-ruining, as far as human animals are concerned.
Now, if you're not a humanist, I can see feeling like just as atrocious of effects are happening in Indonesia because of what the corporations are doing to it.
But at the moment, the corporations haven't been paying people to do quite as bad of things to quite as many human beings in Indonesia as they have been in Sudan & Congo.
I think that's why.
But yeah, Indonesia...totally important, too. Thanks for bringing it up today! :-)
I posted info about corporations robbing the Congo of its natural resources on my blog. I listed all of the contact info I could find. I'll research Darfur and post about it tomorrow. The information is disheartening. I don't see how people could sleep at night know that they are making billions of dollars while people suffer. So, go and check it out:
http://thesowingcircle.blogspot.com/2008/04/genocide-in-congo-untold-story.html
Yobachi,
I'm not pitting one tragedy against another. I'm questioning the source of the conflicts and asking for more information. I don't want any woman or child in any country to be mistreated. I've donated money and written to my elected officials. In my research I came across some other blogs that talked about the end game agenda and having an idea of how the CIA operates as an example I wondered how much this gov't is actively adding fuel to fire. We can shine light, we can protest, we can urge divestment. I want peace. And if the gov't is involved I want it exposed and I want it to stop!
Thank you for writing SheCodes, I do not see why see admitting genocides in other countries denies the existence of Darfur.
For 59 years the United States has funded the Indonesian military against the Indonesian people; then 45 years ago Lovett & Bundy manipulated Kennedy into trading the people of West Papua like cattle... US ammunition & US bombers were used against the Papuan highlands to clear the homelands for the Freeport corporation; Indonesia continue using US weapons until the 1980s when it began manufacturing its own.
Each year Freeport pays $billions to Jakarta in tax, how many children could be save with just one year's worth of the tens of billions these corporations are making?
The world would be a better place if people said NO to genocide instead of selecting which ones are more comfortable.
I hope Americans are not comfortable when they learn about the Papuan "blood on their hands".
Andrew-
hi. your post hit my spirit. i want you to know that there are americans that understand the colonization of the world that america is wickedly involved in while lying relentlessly about her love of democracy and freedom. some of us understand that there is a reason america is hated around the world and it has nothing to do with jealousy of american freedom.
please know that some of us truly see the big picture. some of us truly believe that injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.
if there is anything i can do to assist your efforts to bring awareness to the suffering of your people please let me know. i focus without apology on black folks because i am black. i stand in solidarity with people of color around the world that resist and struggle for liberation from oppression.
blessings and peace in abundance,
focusedpurpose
Andrew, the mistake that you're making is that you assume that we are 'more comfortable' with one genocide over another. Your assumption is false.
Bringing specific attention to Darfur is a righteous and a good act. So is bringing specific attention to the Congo, as is Papua, as is other atrocities around the world.
A generalized, nonspecific war against 'genocide', without any focus at all is just like the war against drugs. It's stats and numbers without heart.
Most people disagree with the concept of genocide, but will do absolutely nothing until they visually see the carnage. It's is wrong, but it is reality.
Therefore, yes, I am offended that you would storm into a conversation where people are rightously indignant about the mass rape, mass mutilation, and mass murder of black women and demand that we march to your orders, your way, according to your priorities.
This is not your house. Statements like 'why are you complaining about Darfur' are telling and unwelcome here.
As a decendant of the kidnapped people of Africa, it would never enter my conciousness to tell you 'why are you complaining about Papua?'. It is disrespectul, it is needlessly dismissive, and it is flat out wrong.
I agree with your cause, but your approach leaves much to be desired.
Also, I was wondering if there was a way that we (bloggers, activists, etc) can directly contact the women in Sudan and Congo?
Thank you for this amazing post, shecodes, which I am going to link to forthwith. To get people to act, it's almost as though reporting that genocide is in progress is just not enough! We have to work so so hard to remind people that these are *people*, human beings we are talking about, people like them with feelings like theirs. You've done this masterfully, thanks again.
Yes Lisa,
I've been really trying to correct that mistake. I think that people are getting our conversation about the Congo mixed up with the Darfur blog blast.
I feel badly about the confusion, it's the braichild of Danielle from Modern Musings
oops: "brainchild"
Your contribution is awe inspiring. I am amazed at the scale that this campaign has taken.
I am still collecting links of inspired last minute participants.
I had no idea of the situation of our sisters in the Congo.
It is so important that actions such as this blogblast are not tied down specifically to one issue.
There is a common thread that must be spun and you have surely weaved that connection.
Again I thank you for your hard work and dedication.
In light and love
Danielle
You know what the sad part is spoiled rich people black and white alike are more concerned about global warming than human suffering.
I doubt the UN would do anything about this horrific crime against humanity.
Isn't it their job to enforce human rights and ensure that human rights abuses and genocide doesn't occur again.
Oh now I remember their more concerned about global warming than human beings!
Just as the United States was obliged to stop its slavery trade that it was responsible for;
so too the United States is obliged to stop its mining of West Papua, stop its funding of the military occupation of West Papua, and I think it is hypocritical to be claiming to be opposed to Al Qaeda in one part of the world but allow Al Qaeda and Laskar Jihad training camps remain in government sponsored operation in another. It seems to be two standards being used.
To be honest I would have been quite supprised if you'd ever heard of West Papua before I mentioned it. Desmond Tutu, Noam Chomsky, the RFK Memorial Center for Human Rights and others certainly know about it; but not the general US public.
You could have said, Oh I've never heard of it before, or whatever the case was. If you have time to help the people of Darfur that is great and is your choice; if people in Washington are on the sly enabling the Darfur crisis as a distraction then you have a moral duty to do something. But that does not remove the United States obligations for stopping its funding of repression and genocide in West Papua; nor denying its part in trading West Papua as a colony to Indonesia.
Slavery is wrong, doing it to an entire nation by trading and mining and exterminating its native peoples and cultures is also wrong. That is why de-colonization was a fundamental part of the United Nations.
Hi SheCodes,

Thank you shecodes for posting this.
I think it is very important that people start to learn the truth about what is going on, not all the propaganda and half truths.
1. The war in Sudan is not new! It is a long waged war that has been going on for many centuries.
In order to understand what is going on we must understand the history of Africa, before the trans Atlantic Slave Trade. Since 640 AD the Arab has waged war on the African and has been insistent in Arabizing (colonizing) Africa.
2. Arabs sold Africans as slaves 600 years before the European. It was the Arab/Islamic Slave trade that allowed for the Western Slave trade to take place.Arabs are hell bent on controlling Africa. 1/3 of African land is in the hands of Arabs. Look into it and you will find that Saudi Arabia didn't Abolish slavery till 1962, only because of international pressure!
3. There are great writings about this by Dr. John Henrik Clarke. You can find some of his conferences on youtube:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QOYOXjR_8-4&feature=related,
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KNwhbo451YM
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zMGjJJhHvqY&feature=related
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5yaVcKAWccU&feature=related
4. There are Arabs in Sudan! I know the media, and other organizations like to make this out to be an ethnic conflict (Black on Black) BUT it is not! Two of Sudan's famous writers are Arab;
Leila Aboulela and Jamal Mahjoub. If you go on facebook and visit groups like not all Africans are Black, you will see many Arab Sudanese. The Janjaweed and Omar al-Bashir are puppets! They are used by Arabs to get the job done.
5. It is not China and the US that we should be worried about, even though they should be accountable for their role. Omar al-Bashir is funded by the Arab League and Saudi Arabia. They recently gave al-Bashir 300 million dollars to fund the war against the Dinka, Nur, and other Southern Sudanese groups. China and US are being used as Scape goats. Even if they were removed out of this Holocaust would still continue, since the real Masterminds are not being accounted for.
6. This is not only happening to Sudan! They want all of Africa. It was European Colonialism that halted the spread of Arab Colonialism! Read anything by Nigerian Scholar Chinweizu.
There are many Africans and even some Americans that know the truth. But there are others who like to hide/ignore the truth because they are afraid that critiquing there own religion may lead them to come to a conclusion about Islam. And YES Islam has a lot to do with it. That is why you will often find the people who deny that there is anything going on in Sudan are Muslims. Especially the Black ones. There are many Black Muslims hiding there head in the sand, because their allegiance is to their religion first and not there own people! Hence why you have puppets being used to carry out the extermination. Through out history Arabs have always used their puppets (Muslim wanna be Arabs)to carry out atrocities.
http://www.nigeriavillagesquare.com/articles/chinweizu/index.php
7. In order to stop this we must expose the truth of what is really going on. The problem is that many people don't want to know the truth! Ask an Apostate what time it is and they will tell you exactly what I'm trying to say. Even in the US there are groups like the NOI that are so hooked on Arab money and funding that they would rather let Black people drop like flies then tell the truth or get involved. SHAME on you Minister Farrakhan, and the NOI. I know I am making strong accusations, but if you dig deep enough you will find, that I am telling the truth! You can't even bring up Sudan without being dismissed by Arabs, and Muslims (especially Black Muslims).
8.If the African - Arab war is not won by Africans then God help the rest of Africa! Mauritania, Chad, Niger are already going in the same direction as Sudan. There are even Arab tribes now living in Northern parts of Nigeria, spreading their Arab Imperialism. This is also going on in Somalia. People need to put the pieces together. Does no one wonder why there are so many African countries in the Arab League? Many of these countries have a large population of Blacks but are run by Arabs.
9. I'm so tiered of trying to get the truth out there but there are so many Arab and Islamic propagandist, and Arab Uncle Toms out there that it is hard. If we do not look at the history of Islam and Arabs in Africa, we will not be able to solve the problem in Sudan!
10. We need to stop letting people pull the wool over our eyes, and trying to pretend they are our friends; when they are not. We need to expose the wolf in sheeps clothing! This is a great article and I think you should read it!

Salaam... from an African woman
@ Faith,
I'm really tired of Black people in America and around the world talking nonsense and throwing Zionist theories into what is going on in Sudan. In the words of Dr. John Henrik Clarke, " the relations between Jews and Africans have been more good than bad." Now see if you can find that quotation for Arabs!
It is Israel that is saving the Southern Sudanese! Because Black Americans think the white man is their worst enemy and have no recollection of who sold them to the white man, they would rather believe that all Jews are white. 2 million Sudanese refugees are living in Israel many of them are Jews. Ask me why Sudanese refugees are being beaten to death in Egypt? Especially those who are trying to flea to Israel from Egypt. Why are Sudanese students called Abd (slave) in Arab countries like Saudi Arabia, and even in Egypt?
...sorry forgot to attach my name I'm the one that posted above.
She codes look what I found a friend of mine posted this on myspace.
Arab WOMEN Coordinate & Encourage the Sudan Rapes
"African Arab Women Sang While Watching Sudan Rapes"
By Jeevan Vasagar in Nairobi
and Ewen MacAskill
The Guardian - UK
7-20-4
While African women in Darfur were being raped by the Janjaweed militiamen, Arab women stood nearby and sang for joy, according to an Amnesty International report published yesterday. The songs of the Hakama, or the "Janjaweed women" as the refugees call them, encouraged the atrocities committed by the militiamen.
The women singers stirred up racial hatred against black civilians during attacks on villages in Darfur and celebrated the humiliation of their enemies, the human rights group said.
"[They] appear to be the communicators during the attacks. They are reportedly not actively involved in attacks on people, but participate in acts of looting.
Amnesty International collected several testimonies mentioning the presence of Hakama while women were raped by the Janjaweed. The report said:"Hakama appear to have directly harassed the women [who were] assaulted, and verbally attacked them.
During an attack on the village of Disa in June last year, Arab women accompanied the attackers and sang songs praising the government and scorning the black villagers.
According to an African chief quoted in the report, the singers said: "The blood of the blacks runs like water, we take their goods and we chase them from our area and our cattle will be in their land. The power of [Sudanese president Omer Hassan] al-Bashir belongs to the Arabs and we will kill you until the end, you blacks, we have killed your God.
The chief said that the Arab women also racially insulted women from the village: "You are gorillas, you are black, and you are badly dressed.
The Janjaweed have abducted women for use as sex slaves, in some cases breaking their limbs to prevent them escaping, as well as carrying out rapes in their home villages, the report said.
The militiamen "are happy when they rape. They sing when they rape and they tell that we are just slaves and that they can do with us how they wish", a 37-year-old victim, identified as A, is quoted as saying in the report, which was based onmore than 100 testimonies from women in the refugee camps in neighbouring Chad.
Pollyanna Truscott, Amnesty International's Darfur crisis coordinator, said the rape was part of a systematic dehumanisation of women. "It is done to inflict fear, to force them to leave their communities. It also humiliates the men in their communities.
The UN estimates that up to 30,000 people have been killed in Darfur, and more than a million have been forced to flee their homes. Peace talks between the Sudanese government and two rebel movements broke down on Saturday when the rebel groups walked out, saying the government must first disarm the Janjaweed.
Another human rights organisation, Human Rights Watch, today publishes alleged Sudanese government documents showing that it was much more closely involved with the Janjaweed than it has so far admitted.
The documents, which Human Rights Watch said it had obtained from the civilian administration in Darfur and are dated February and March this year, call for "provisions and ammunition" to be delivered to known Janjaweed militia leaders, camps and "loyalist tribes".
One document orders all security units in the area to tolerate the activities of Musa Hilal, the alleged Janjaweed leader in north Darfur interviewed by the Guardian last week.
Peter Takirambudde, the executive director of Human Rights Watch's Africa division, said: "These documents show that militia activity has not just been condoned, it's been specifically supported by Sudan government officials.
The official government line is that it did not arm or support the Janjaweed, though its presence was useful in helping to combat rebels in Darfur.
