It is not only our SONS who are dying senselessly...
The second leading cause of DEATH for black females between the ages of 15 AND 24 is HOMICIDE.
Just in case you might need a few real, life examples of what we are talking about, please click on any of the pictures below. This is a miniscule sampling of what we are talking about...
As many of you know, I just had a knock-down drag out fight with Rev Al Sharpton, but we made up in the end. Whoooeee!! Talk about Olympic level back pedaling! Mr. Sharpton now claims that he never said that the suspects in the Dunbar Village case were treated unfairly. (See the full story here)
If you don't believe us, believe the Associated Press, the Palm Beach Post, and the Sun-sentinal
"Sharpton ... repeatedly expressed his concern about the lack of bail for the
Dunbar defendants.""In this situation, it is the imbalance that we are protesting. We are not
condoning the acts on either side," Sharpton said. "While we admonish young men
in every community to not engage in crime and to respect women, we also admonish
the system that you can't have one level of justice for whites and those with
money and another level for blacks that live in Dunbar Village." (Source Article: Sharpton: Dunbar Village defendants treated
unfairly)
Rev Al Sharpton has switched up his story because the heat was on. Hey, I don't care what the reasons were. I'm just glad that he won't be advocating for the suspects any further.
Let me be clear to everyone who was listening: the day has come where Black women will no longer stand idly by while people of ANY color rape, maim, murder, or torture black women or our children -- even if the perpetrators are black.
The bloggers who have covered this story have been involved with the Dunbar Village since day one. Contrary to what Al Sharpton is claiming, they have not only spoken to the reporters who quoted him, but they have also spoken to him and his staff DIRECTLY.
The bloggers have physically been there for the victims, have raised money, and raised their voices to protect the people of Dunbar Village when NOBODY... not Al Sharpton, not the NAACP, not the Urban League, or any other major black organization was willing to even make a statement about it. We will go into more detail about that tomorrow, with supporting documentation.
We will include documentation in which the NAACP claims that it was Al Sharpton's idea to advocate for the the suspects in this case. So his fight is with them, not us.
I am glad that Al Sharpton finally admitted that he was slow to speak out against this horrific crime. It is a start. I am also glad that he has come to his senses and refrained from claiming that the young men in this case have been 'treated unfairly', as mentioned by the Associated Press.
We would now like to see more leaders call for justice by encouraging the community to turn in the 6 other rapists/torturers, in order for real justice to be had in this situation. We need to see a reward/victims assistance fund created, and at least as much concern for these victims as has been given for the many perpetrators that they have advocated for.
I stand by every word that is written on this blog.
Not only are Black women sick and tired of burying our sons… WE ARE SICK AND TIRED OF BURYING OUR DAUGHTERS!

You did WHAT?? SHECODES, girl you really have holy boldness! How can I listen to the radio show?
I hope that you really told him about himself. What he did was inexcusable.
I'm so very proud of you. Thank you for not letting the opportunity pass by.
Go for it, Shecodes!
I'm glad that you/we finally got an audience with Sharpton himself and made it abundantly clear that black women are watching and will hold him accountable everytime he tries to use us as toilet paper for what he thinks are bigger and more media attention grabbing causes.
OH. MY. GOD. I just caught the tail end of it and YOU ROCKED.
Well if you ain't scurred of the Rev Al, then I guess you really are a Black Queen. ^5 to you and Tonya Weathersbee, and all of the other Queens, bishops, knights and pawns online.
By the way, I'm Miss Web. I finally got a google account, LOL
"We need to see a reward/victims assistance fund created, and at least as much concern for these victims as has been given for the many perpetrators that they have advocated for."
Unfortunately, setting up rewards/victim's assistance funds does not appear to be in their mission statement either.
Isn't it terrible, 2unruly? I am still looking for a reputable agency that can handle a victims assistance fund. Please let me know if you know of any.
PS I'm posting this on various blogs:
I just got off the air with Al Sharpton on his radio show. He is backpedaling BIG TIME. And frankly, I am glad that he is.
He claims that he never said that the prosecutor was treating the suspects unfairly. However, there is video, eyewitness reports from newspapers that say the exact opposite.

However, by the end of his show, Al Sharpton finally spoke out against the violence of the victim, admitted that he would have been there sooner if the perpetrators were white, and called on organizations to take violence against black women more seriously.
The old curmudgeon ALMOST won me over with that statement. Almost.
I see this as a victory for bloggers and women and men everywhere would said NO... NOT THIS TIME. Al Sharpton is now officially denouncing bail for the suspects.
One down and one to go.
I praise God for this breakthrough! And I thank you, Shecodes, for your leadership & initiative in protecting ALL of us!
As you said, "One down and one to go." And hopefully, these so-called leaders will learn to never betray Black women & children again!
Peace.
Way to go, Shecodes!
Shecodes, I try to catch his show every month or so...wish I had known. Is there an archive file, where we can listen to the segment with Al? Had I known, I would not have missed that conversation for anything. Thanks
Forgot to add, an 11 year old student was tasered today in Orlando by a sheriff deputy, black latina girl.
Yay Shecodes! And yay to all diligent BW bloggers who did their parts!
I heard the entire show and you made your point. I am glad that in the end we can move forward. It sounds like Rev. Al was doing some back paddling.
You are needed and so is Rev. Al I am glad that you all worked it out.
I'm looking for Minnesota / Twin Cities bloggers or contacts who're interested in / covering the pressure on the NAACP, NAN, & Sharpton.
I'm female but white...I just alerted the black press here, but I'd like to have someone black & female to direct them to, too.
Please keep your eyes open, readers. And post a comment over on my blog - http://kitkatscritique.blogspot.com/ - if you need to get ahold of me (it e-mails me). Thank you!
Shecodes-
i love it! i am so proud of you and us.
we have already what we need to make this better for all of us. we just need to recognize this truth and act accordingly wherever we are according to our gifts.
i don't know if you are familiar with Isis? we have that power and then some. it just needs to be harnessed:-) i believe fully that when confronted with this bold power, not only al sharpton will fall in line!
sending you a hug sis:-)
blessings to all,

Wow. Somebody must have knocked some sense into him. Hope it doesn't wear off like a hangover or he'll need another reminder again. I still do not see that man as a 'friend'. We all know the fable of the scorpion and the frog.
I love good news!
I want to hear the show too.
Shecodes!!!!
